Last time we looked at how keywords are stored in your Lightroom catalog and where they live once saved to the image file's metadata. So now let's take a look at how keywords work when you export images and create new files. Each keyword has three export options associated with it: Include on Export, Export Containing Keywords, and Export Synonyms. These options are found in the dialog you see when creating or editing a keyword. Terracotta’s BigMemory for Enterprise Ehcache snap-in solution to Java’s garbage collection (GC) nightmare has emerged from six weeks in beta with 250–300 registered users and has gone GA.
Testing of the pure Java Ehcache add-on reportedly indicated application performance was steady, predictable and completely linear up to 350 gigs of cache without custom tuning.
The company is now trying to get its hands on a Dell box with 500 gigs of memory for further validation. Such boxes are becoming increasingly the norm but are next to impossible for Java to use to improve performance because of erratic garbage collection pauses. read more

The highly respected Apache Software Foundation (ASF), recently re-elected in a 95% landslide to the Executive Committee (EC) of the Java Community Process (JCP), is using its bully pulpit to incite mutiny, calling on other JCP members to vote down Oracle’s next proposed version of the language, Java 7.
It wants the Java compatibility test kits (TCKs) that Sun promised in a letter of intent so it can certify Project Harmony, its breakaway open source version of Java Standard Edition for Linux, and it wants an end to the Field-of-Use (FOU) restrictions that Sun slapped on Java and Oracle means to continue.
It’s threatening to walk out on the EC and slam the door behind it if it doesn’t get its way. read more
